Care Package
We sent Reese a care package last week. I made her a little blanket (very little, more like a "lovie"...she'll have the bigger version here when she gets home), a photo book and a set of blocks. Truitt helped me pick her toy, we chose the soft blocks so she could build with them, throw them, chew them and use the little bag they're in for a purse :) She should get them soon....I hope!

Thanksgiving - part 2
We left Pipe Creek and went to Kerrville to see Nana. We had a nice time visiting and one day we went out to Lost Maples park, the colors were so pretty with all the trees changing. The boys did well on the 5 mile hike, on the steep incline I had Blake on my back, Truitt was on Kurt's shoulders - talk about a workout! Blake walked much of it but both he and Truitt were hitching rides towards the end. It was great weather but when we had our picnic the wind picked up, clouds came out and it got really cold! Perfect timing on our part....needless to say Blake and Truitt slept on the way home :)

SIX
This year Truitt wanted to celebrate his birthday at Chucky Cheese. I can't believe he is 5...time flies!
We started off the day with a birthday cinamon roll :)

Truitt really wanted to do the ticket blaster...it was so funny to watch him. He came out with about 4 tickets but also have 2 110 point tickets - score!

EIGHT
Braden had a few friends over for his birthday - we did nerf gun wars. Kurt and I were the Russians (not sure why but we were assigned) and they were the US Navy. It was fun, Kurt and I battled against 8 boys! We kept score with chalk on the fort and everyone had a turn being captain. I think all the boys had a great time - I KNOW Braden did! Nerf gun wars are a regular occurance in our house...fun times :) seriously, it IS really fun!

Halloween
Fun times....the boys picked their costumes and between what we had and borrowed I didn't spend a penny on costumes! Blake LOVED the night - screaming "trick or treat", "thank you" and "bye" at just about every door, constantly trying to keep up with his brothers/cousins and dragging his HEAVY bag around (refusing to let me help - apparently I'm not to be trusted with his candy bag!).
My train conductor
We went to Aunt Missy's this year
Blake ran around with is arm up to hold his bag, so funny! Sisters.....so thankful to have them both!

Update
We recieved an update from China on our little girl. This was great news as we were told that many times there is no response when requests are made. Not only did we get a response but it was within 2 weeks of requesting it. We were happy to see the photos and get the brief text document BUT I must say I also felt sad. I had a "vision" of what her foster home might be like and that didn't match up with our new photos. I want her home now more than ever....it's hard.

Preapproval
We recieved our preapproval to adopt Qin Li. What does that mean? It means that by 'glancing' at our paperwork we're preapproved and now the in depth look/processing of our dossier begins. We are now waiting for our letter seeking confirmation (LSC) from China which can take anywhere from 2-4 months. It seems that all of our paperwork has gone the full length of the wait time, please pray that this will be the exception! Here is another photo of our little girl :)

It's real!
We know who our little girl will be! This adoption just got very personal and real for me. Her name is Qin Li, she is 21 months old and just precious! We are looking at another 5-8 months until we can bring her home. Please pray with us that our paperwork moves quickly and that we bring her home ASAP. She has a cleft lip and palate. We have met with the international adoption team at Texas Children's hospital, obviously she will need medical care when she arrives home. You would think this would help us bring her home faster but unfortunately that isn't the case. We are trusting in God's perfect timing...we know He loves her move than we can imagine.

My sweet Sadie
My sweet dog of 13.5 years is gone...I'll miss her. She was such a sweet dog, gentle and kind. Can a dog be kind? Well, she was. I have known her longer than Kurt :) We will miss her very much(tear).
Braden took this photo and has now informed me that he likes to take photos because it is like looking into the scope of a gun. Nice.

Summer's over already?
So here is the last post on our summer trip to San Antonio. We had a good summer, my house was LOUD and crazy much of the time. I enjoyed it but admittedly with school in session I have a bit of a break ;)
Our lame attempt at a family photo
Feeding Danny Boy....they just LOVE him and he's such a gentle horse.
We went to the Witte museum....Blake found a rainbow in the tree house
Truitt climbing the rock wall
In front of the Witte
Lots of pool time. Truitt in the background of this photo cracks me up!

Summer - part 2
We took a trip to visit the grandparents in Kerrville/Bandera. We went to Sea World with Nana and left Blake with Oma and Grandad. Blake's a runner (meaning he runs away from me whenever possible) and I felt like enjoying my time there :) maybe next year!
Truitt rode the Shamu ride with Nana. Truitt also rode Journey to Atlantis with Kurt and I, it's a water ride and it totally surprised me he wanted to ride it. Brave boy!
Feeding the Lorikeets, we love doing this each time we visit.

Water
As I sit here Truitt comes out of his room for the 3rd time to get water. Then little bit follows (they share a room)..I'm aggravated. I get the water bottles out of the fridge, get a straw and help Blake. I watch as ice cold, crystal clear water goes through the straw into his little body. The thought pops into my head, there are so many moms who can't give their kids a sip water...not one sip and their children are dying because of it.
Aggravation....gone.
Admittedly water isn't something I think about often...we have so much of it we swim in it, water our grass with it and if it's hot it goes down the sink. I am sure many of you are aware of the famine in Africa right now...you CAN help. Here is a link and at the bottom there are some organizations that are helping provide relief for the many people in need there. One that I am familiar with and trust is World Vision...can't say enough good things about this organization!

Summer
We did do a few other things besdies Honduras this summer :) Lots of swimming, playing otuside (and inside with the heat), lake house time and a trip to Kerrville/Pipe Creek. The boys and I went to Splashway with one of my besties - we had fun and so did the kids :) My camera died during the trip but I was able to snap a few.
